Born in the family of professional musicians, Jana Minov holds a Doctorate in Orchestral and Opera Conducting from Arizona State University and a Master’s degree in conducting from the Conservatory of Music in Belgrade-Serbia. Minov was on staff of The Phoenix Symphony for 2010/11 serving as the Assistant Chorus Master. In addition to conducting, Jana is also an accomplished music educator, pianist and vocalist. She has been the music faculty in the Great Hearts Academies since 2009.
Minov’s academic honors and work experience include the first prize and a special award at the International Choir Competition in Shanghai, China in July 2004. She led a series of concerts with the Professional Symphonic Orchestra appearing as a guest conductor. Jana is the youngest conductor to conduct an opera (Mozart’s Magic Flute) in the National Opera Theater in Belgrade. Minov had the privilege of teaching, organizing, and conducting a series of performances with some of the most talented students within the Conservatory of Music Academy in Belgrade.
Before coming to Arizona, Jana worked as a music professor at the music high-school Mokranjac and assistant conductor in National Opera Theater in Belgrade.
Minov is also a founder and artistic director of Riznica (read as Reez-ni-tza) chamber choir. Due to her great contribution to Serbian music and culture, in 2011 Dr. Minov was inaugurated a cultural ambassador for Serbia for the North America.
Dr. Minov joined Horizon Church at 2009 and since then she is passionately and successfully leading both adult choir and a hand bell choir.
